Carolyn Price Johnson, 87, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at her residence with her loving husband by her side. Carolyn was born on March 29, 1938, in Gastonia, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Grady and Lona Mae Price.
She is survived by her beloved husband, William "Bill" T. Johnson and their children, Myra (Robert), Mark, Clay, and Andy (Betsy); grandchildren, Bishop, Bailey, Treanor, Anthony, Ashlyn, Jacob, Jody, Candler, Shannon, Alex, and Jessica; great grandchildren, who called her GG, Lily Ann, Melanie, Nataleigh Ann, Valerie, Hunter, Riley, Dallas, John Burk, Brooklyn and Avery.
She also leaves behind her sister, Joyce from Gastonia, NC, brother, Alan from Lincolnton, NC, and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita.
Her family will deeply miss their mother, friend, and confidante. Carolyn loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years and participated in as many church activities as possible. Just after marrying her second husband, Bill, Carolyn retired from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in 1994 following a bicycle accident that drastically changed her life. She always made the best of a bad situation that took a tremendous toll on her physically.
