Carolyn LaDell Tanner Fry, 83, passed away at her home in Leesville, SC on March 28, 2026.

A daughter of the late Herman and Odell Coker Tanner, Carolyn was born on December 10, 1942, in the Muddy Creek section of Hemingway, South Carolina.

Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Hemingway High, where she was a member of various clubs and played varsity basketball. She went on to graduate from Palmer Business College in Columbia. She worked for many years in her husband's printing business in Columbia.

She was an accomplished ballroom dancer, winning many awards during the years in which she competed.

She was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading her Bible. She also enjoyed spending time with family, the love of her pets and reconnecting with friends. She also loved working in her flower beds, adding beauty to her home.

Carolyn is survived by her three children: Teri (Kirk) Brown, David (Amy) Humphries, and Michelle (Alick) Smith. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Jessica (Colby) Baughman, Morgan Brown, Elizabeth (Michelle) Humphries and Ella Smith. In addition, she leaves behind three brothers: Buck (Irene) Tanner, Mike (Larue) Tanner, Dan (Dianne) Tanner, all of Hemingway, S.C., and five nieces and nephews. Also, one uncle survives, Willis Coker of Pearl, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Funeral services will be private.
