Billy Rawls Obituary

Billy Carl Rawls, Sr., 82, of Columbia, died on Monday, July 7, 2025. Born on March 11, 1943, in Columbia, he was a son of S.W. Lee and Katherine Brown Lee. Mr. Rawls was the owner and operator of 555 Paint and Body for 27 years. His hobbies included woodworking, restoring classic cars, and spending time with his family. Mr. Rawls was a member of First Church of God on Covenant Road in Columbia. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Rawls; children, Billy Carl Rawls, Jr. (Deborah) of Columbia, Tammy Kinder (William) of Columbia, Jonathan Rawls of Columbia, Melissa Jones of Columbia, and Katie McConnell (Mike) of Elgin; grandchildren, Jennifer Rawls, Billy Rawls, III, Amanda Kinder, Hannah Rawls, Emmalee Rawls, Sarah Rawls, Dylan McConnell, Aiden McConnell, and Brianna Jones; five great grandchildren, as well as a special nephew, Shane Rawls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Loretta Rawls and his brother, James Oscar Rawls, Sr. A celebration of life will be held privately. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
