Barbara Huffstetler Obituary

Barbara Huffstetler, 89, of Columbia, SC, passed away on July 14, 2025. She was born in West Columbia, SC on October 28, 1935. Barbara was the daughter of the late Mr. Charlie and Hattie Pope Lynch. Barbara's time on earth touched many lives. Barbara, also known to many as "Bobbie" after graduating Brooklyn Cayce High School, had dreams of becoming an airplane stewardess. Being too small to meet flight attendant requirements, she then chose the domestic life to become a stay-at-home mother raising her two sons. Barbara worked side by side for years with her late husband Olin Huffstetler's Pay and Pack Grocery store and her son's Firework business. Barbara was instrumental in her church to include childcare in the early years, writing cards to the elderly and shut ins, and a constant prayer warrior for whoever needed it. Barbara enjoyed writing poetry, fishing with her family, painting, and on occasion playing the piano. Barbara's smile and quiet spirit is what attracted people to her and her faith. Barbara is survived by her two sons, Terry Huffstetler (Tina) and Timothy Huffstetler (Tammy); her grandchildren, Matthew Huffstetler (Christa), Nicholas Huffstetler, Katlyn Ayers (Timothy), Crystal Huffstetler; and great grandchildren, Paisley Huffstetler, Lilly Huffstetler, Amelia Ayers, and Mabry Ayers. Barbara is preceded in death by her late husband, Olin Huffstetler; brothers, Bennie Lynch, Richard Lynch; and sisters, Ruby Lee and Maybelle Sanders. The family will receive friends at Christ Center Church on July 19th, 2025, from 11am-12pm. Funeral services will follow at 12pm with Pastor Scott Smith officiating. Interment will follow the service at Celestial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to World Missions for Christ Center Church. For those unable to attend, the service will be streaming live via the following link: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/f25076735901810 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. -1 Corinthians 13: 4-7
