Anita Mae Glass, 84, of Sumter, died Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at The Heritage at Lowman.
Born in North Adams, Massachusetts, she was a daughter to the late Stuart and Gertrude Mae Sumner.
As a wife to her late husband, Richard Glass, and a mother of three, she enjoyed spending time with her children and understood what it meant to “make a home a home”. In her spare time, she could often be found with a needle and thread in hand, enjoying her favorite hobby sewing.
Anita is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hancock; sons, Scott Burdick (Deborah), David Gendron (Jenna); a brother, Roger Sumner and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Stuart and Walter; as well as her sister Janice.
The family of Anita would like to offer their gratitude for the care the Gardens of Sumter gave during her time there.
Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to serve the Glass family.
