Andrea Clary Obituary
Andrea Broome Clary, 81, won her hard fought 6+ year battle with Alzheimer's on March 20th, 2026. She is now healed and at peace.
Born on October 3rd, 1944, Andrea was the only child of James and Claudia Broome. She was a proud member of the AC Flora Class of 1962, attended the University of South Carolina, and on January 26th, 1963 she married her childhood boyfriend Don, who was truly the love of her life. They were married for 53 years but were together for many more.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband (2016), her firstborn infant son Greg (1964) and her adult son Bryan (2003). She is survived by daughters Patti Clary and Rachel Perkins (David), grandchildren Matthew (Ashlyn) Clary, Caroline Clary, William Perkins and Gordon Perkins, great grandson Hudson Bryan who she met and held in a very special moment back in November, and cousins Ginger Taylor and Jeanne Eleazer both of whom she considered her "sisters."
Andrea started working outside of the home in August 1976 after Bryan started 1st grade. She was a retiree of Richland School District Two, where she held several positions at both Richland Northeast High School and Lonnie B. Nelson Elementary School.
Andrea adored her little dogs throughout the years and treated them as her babies. She thoroughly enjoyed planning and attending her high school reunions, going to the beach and the pool, and watching and attending USC sporting events. Andrea loved a glass of white zinfandel with one ice cube or a vodka & orange juice (which she called a "screwdriver") in the evenings at home or at a local tavern with Patti and friends. But her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren who lovingly called her Nana - a title that she cherished.
Special thanks to caregivers Amanda, Gail, and MeMe for providing loving and consistent care in her home, where she had lived her entire adult life and where she remained until the end.
Thank you to Kaley, Sarah, Debra and Tammy with Heartsong Hospice for the exceptional care and loving support.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Clary will be held at a later date and will be announced by Shives Funeral Home.
