Yvonne Stuckey Obituary

Yvonne W. Stuckey ORANGEBURG - Yvonne W. Stuckey, 91, a long time resident of Orangeburg, died Wednesday morning at Palmetto Health Baptist, Columbia, SC after an extended illness. Mrs. Stuckey was born in Orangeburg, November 15, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Arthur C. Walker and Coy Bowman Walker. Mrs. Stuckey attended Orangeburg Public Schools and Weslyn College in Macon, GA where she graduated in 1939. Yvonne had formal training in piano and voice, after college during WWII she worked a while for First National Bank. Yvonne met and married Henry M. Stuckey in 1945 following WWII. She and Henry became Charter member of St. Andrews Methodist Church in 1956. She sang in the choir for many years and occasionally played the piano as needed. After moving to the Methodist Oaks retirement community she continued to play piano for meetings and special occasions on the campus and sometimes for chapel services. Mrs. Stuckey is survived by one son Henry M. Stuckey and cousins Elayne S. Penn, Orangeburg; Sidney Bowman, Rowesville; and Kay Williams, St. Matthews and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 1980 Columbia Rd., Orangeburg, SC 29115 A special thanks to the nursing staff and CNAs of the Methodist Oaks and the caring staff at Still Hopes Community, West Columbia, as well as Dr. J.Y. White for his care and concern for Mother's needs. Funeral services will be at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19 with Rev. Kermitt Shrawder officiating and burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
