Winifred Hartzog Obituary

Winifred Jones Hartzog SUMMERVILLE - Winifred Jones "Winnie" Hartzog, 86, of Summerville, wife of Monroe Everett Hartzog, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Summerville Medical Center. Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 o'clock until the hour of service. Entombment will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, Summerville. Flowers will be accepted. Winnie was born May 5, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Wolvie Harrison Jones and Marian Jewell Meyers Jones. She was called to duty from President Truman to serve in the United States Army. She enlisted on August 6, 1945 and was discharged in November 26, 1946, receiving the World War II Victory Medal. After the military she worked as a clerk and later became owner of Berkeley Home Sales. She enjoyed music, traveling and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son and three daughters: Brady Hartzog (Candy) of Heber, Utah, Sherry Lee Swan of Summerville, Maria Hartzog Boehler (Gregory) of Summerville and Laura Hartzog Polutta (John David) of Ridgeville, one half brother: Tom Jones (Rebecca) of Urbano, Ohio, 11 grandchildren: Paul Hartzog (Jenn) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Chris Hartzog of Salt Lake, Utah, Jeremiah Huston, Robin Huston, Mandy Huston Peyton all of Summerville, Eddie Koch of Charleston, Leta Boehler McDowell (Jared) of Summerville, Sgt. Thomas E. Boehler USMC (Tiffany) of Camp Lejeune, NC, Corp. Brandon "Mitchell" Spell USMC of New River, North Carolina, Stephanie Spell and Tara Spell both of Summerville, three step grandchildren: Brooke Polutta, Caroline Polutta and Bethany Polutta all of Summerville, eleven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
