I was in the Navy with Billy. Just ran across his obit . I was with him when he first heard the news that his son Bryan had been born. We were on the USS Camden off Viet Nam . Believe that was March 1971. When we reached California , his Dad & Grandfather were there to meet the ship. Brought his Blue Chevelle 454. When I was in Charleston in 1978 , Billy dropped by the hotel for coffee.I will try & contact one of his sons. I am very sorry for your loss.Jim Alston

Billy and I knew each other since grammar school so we go back a long way. Through all of those years, he was always a good guy and a wonderful friend. I will miss him. My deepest sympathies to his family.
I'll see you in heaven, Billy.

Billy was a great couch and mentor to all the baseball team. He played an important roll in Mickie's life and we will always be greatful to him and Virginia.

As you know, Billy was like a father and a brother to me. I have so many memories of him and he will always be in my thoughts. He had a kind heart and was always willing to help anyone that knew him. He will be missed. Iceman, may you rest in peace.
