William Walker Obituary

William George Walker WALTERBORO - Mr. William George Walker, 83, of Walterboro, entered into rest Saturday morning, April 22, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Gladys Craven Walker. Born February 14, 1940 in Hendersonville, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Daniel Fonner Walker and the late Irene Pellum Walker Dietz. George retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural route carrier. He was no stranger to hard work and was always willing and able to do most anything. He was a farmer, plumber, and grasscutter extraordinaire. He was a longtime member of Welch Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro, where over the years, he served faithfully as the church custodian, drove the church bus, and took care of the grounds and church cemetery. He kept his good friend Tommy Dandridge "in-line" working with him at Dandridge Plumbing for countless years. George was hardheaded in every sense and it was his way or no way, unless Gladys said otherwise. You could always find George on his lawnmower and he took pride in everything that he did. He was truly a great friend and a family man, being a wonderful father, grandfather, brother, father-in-law, and uncle. He took value in providing for his family and being a sense of strength and guidance for them. He demonstrated daily the walk and life of a Christian. He truly tried to leave this world a little better than he found it. Surviving are: his children, Jeff Walker (Paula) of Walterboro, Renae Whaley (Marion) of Edisto Island, and Elizabeth Walker of Walterboro; a brother, Donald Walker (Patricia); thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; as well as in-laws, Gloria Langdale, Irene Craven, Joe Ben and Joann Craven, Rusty and Paula Craven, and Barbara Craven; as well as special friends, Tommy and Nancy Dandridge and James and Sherry Baker; and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his children, Darlene and Columbo; brothers, Daniel Walker, Howard Walker, Edward Walker, and Furman Walker; as well as in-laws, Beatrice Easterlin, Raymond Craven, Larry Langdale, and Robert Craven. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, April 29, 2023, from Welch Creek Baptist Church, 536 Welch Creek Road, Walterboro. Pastor James Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral ceremony beginning at 9:30 am that morning in the church sanctuary. ARRANGEMENTS BY: THE BRICE W.
