William "Bill" Arte Towne, III Georgetown, SC - William "Bill" Arte Towne, III, son of Patsy Ruth Towne, passed away July 17, 2022, at 169 Willie Town Ct, Georgetown, SC. William was born in Charleston, South Carolina, on April 11, 1962, the son of the late William A. Towne Jr and Patsy Ruth Towne. William grew up in Charleston, SC, and graduated from Middleton High School. He attended and graduated from The Art Institute of Atlanta and the University of South Carolina. William lived and worked across the United States for various Interior Design Companies before owning and operating William Towne Designs. His clients and contractors became lifelong friends. In 2012, William found his heaven on earth in the mountains of Asheville. He lived in Leicester, NC, raising chickens and sheep between design projects for clients, family and friends. William loved gardening and was born with a vision for beauty. William was happiest when he was working on his mountain home, helping others and spending time with his dog and best friend, Charlie. William was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. Surviving are: best friend, Charlie; his mother, Patsy Towne; his sister, Rhonda Bearfield (Bob); his brother, Rick Towne (Wendy); and his sister, Valerie Morris (Henry); his four nephews, Marlin Morris, Wade Bearfield, Coby Morris, Richard Towne; and his 2 nieces, Carrie Bearfield and Georgia Towne. I was so sad to hear Bill passed away. We were such good friends in high school and went through many difficult times together. He was always a loyal friend. He meant so much to me and I was sad we didn´t do a better job of staying in touch. May he rest in peace. A kind, gentle and talented man taken too soon. Hugs and prayers for his family.

I knew William when I went to the College of Charleston several decades ago & then again when he came to visit/work in Arizona.
I´ve even spent a very nice weekend at the river house with several friends meeting Mr & Mrs Towne in the early 80´s.
We have kept in touch over the years and share 5 other friends between us. I was praying for William strongly at the end to be liberated from pain & suffering. He was THE sweetest soul. I loved his laughter & his sense of humor and compassion. I´m just so sad, there no words for the sadness of our loss of his life on Earth.
God Speed William Towne.
I will sorely miss you.
