William Stone Obituary

William Newton Stone MONCKS CORNER - On June 18, 2022, Mr. William Newton Stone (89 years old) entered his eternal rest while peacefully sleeping his home in Moncks Corner, SC. His wife, Mrs. Janice Stone, was at home with him and said, "William lived to serve her needs." He was always good about saying, "I love you." They had just celebrated their 34th Anniversary on June 6, 2022. Wiliam's first wife, Faynette Stone, had also been married to him for 34 years at the time of their divorce. As requested, William's body was donated to MUSC for scientific research. A memorial service will be held at a later date. On October 17, 1932, Mr. William and Dora Belle Stone, of Islandton, SC, welcomed their son into the world. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Mr. Robert Stone and Mrs. Zelma (Stone) Wilson. William was a veteran of the Korean War and faithfully served on the USS Graffias for the United States Navy. He worked in the boiler room. He was grateful for all the VA had done for him in his final years. After an honorable discharge, he worked in civil service as a Machinist for 33 years at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. William enjoyed deer hunting, word searches, Bible trivia, coloring and loving Janice, their family and their beloved dog, Zeus He was a saved & faithful Christian for over 60 years. As a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 2008, he was the Men's Sunday School teacher until 2017. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janice Stone; by his ex-wife; by his children, William Douglas and Wanda; by his step-children, Melissa & Russell; by his grandchildren, Lexie, Shelley and Timothy; and by their dog, Zeus.
