William Schilling Obituary

Schilling, William "Bill" William "Bill" L. Schilling, age 71 passed away at home Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Bill was born on March 4, 1941 in Youngstown, OH to the late Virginia O'Leary and Louis Schilling. He grew up in California and attended schools in the North Hollywood area. After high school, Bill entered the U.S. Navy on Sept. 28, 1959, at North Hollywood, CA and served on the USS Coral Sea. His honorable discharge, at the rank of SN took place on Sept. 28, 1961 at Alameda, CA. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Ohio where he met his wife of 40 years, Kathleen Schilling. They were married on October 28th, 1972 and raised four children (Jennie, Bob, Michael, and Amy) together, in addition to Kathy's youngest brother, Kevin. Bill was a man of many trades. He worked for General Motors before entering the restaurant business where he worked for companies such as Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips, Long John Silver's, and Taco Johns, eventually owning and operating his own Taco Johns franchise in Stevens Point, WI. Despite the many long hours, he loved interacting with his employees and customers. Through this experience he developed many life-long friends. Bill enjoyed many things which he shared with his wife, Kathy. These included attending UWSP sporting events, camping, fishing, watching movies, and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Kathleen Schilling of Plover, his step-father Fred (Rose) Boggs of San Jose, CA, brother John (Marian) Schilling, Meridian, ID, and four children Robert (Tracy) Schilling of Elburn, IL, Jennie (Scott) Blum of Holly Springs, NC, Michael (Kari) Schilling of West Bend, WI, and Amy (Delano Roberts) Schilling of Stevens Point, WI. In addition to his children, William had seven grandchildren whom he adored, Ashley & Ethan Blum, Tyler, Pearse, Savannah, Olivia and Grace Schilling. In addition, he is survived by brothers-in-law, Terry Daw of Cleveland, OH, and Mark Daw of Fayetteville, NC, his cousin Kay (Vince) Capka of North Olmstead, OH, and nieces Andrea Schilling of Boise, ID, and Angela Schilling of Sioux Falls, ND. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Schilling and his brother-in-law, Kevin Daw. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, April 21st, 2012, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church in Plover. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Friday, April 20th at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home at 2911 Plover Road, Plover and from 9:30 am until the time of services Saturday morning at the Church. A general rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Friday at the Funeral Home.
