William Riley Obituary

I was going through my tool box last week and came across an adjustable wrench with "Billy Riley" engraved on it. I realized Mr. Riley loaned me this wrench when my car was having trouble in the school parking lot back in 1981.
It brought back a lot of memories.

Billy, I´m sorry to see you go. We had some great times together over many years. We played tennis together for several decades out of Miler Country Club in Summerville. And we went many times to the car auction in Darlington to buy cars. It was always fun being around you. You were always so cheerful and a pleasure to be with. But, time marches on. I am 5 months younger than you and it has been a good ride. My sincere condolences to your family. See you on the other side.

My condolences to the family! I´ve know Mr. Riley for many years. He has been my mothers neighbor. Mr. Riley made my son and I a walking stick that I just came across about a month ago. He surely will be missed around town by many and of course around the neighborhood. I wrap my arms around his family and friends during this hard time.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14. Billy was God's gift to us that each one of us is unique. Wendell and I were blessed to have known Billy.

As my first employer when I was 14 years old, you taught me many life lessons, and taught me how to drive. As a car shop owner and shop teacher you made a huge difference to the many people of my generation that had the privilege of interacting with you. Thank you.

I've had 47 years to reflect on the lessons of life (and wrench sizes) you left us with. I've always considered you "top shelf." Now, you are flying even higher.
