William Reed Obituary

William David Reed LEXINGTON, SC - Funeral services for William David Reed, 79, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Lexington Baptist Church with interment in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2010, at CAUGHMAN-HARMAN FUNERAL HOME, LEXINGTON CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon's International, 5106-B Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29204 or Prison Ministries. Mr. Reed was born April 10, 1931, in Swansea and passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010. He was a son of the late J.O. and Carrie Bell Strickland Reed, Sr. Mr. Reed graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1959 with a degree in civil engineering and had retired from the South Carolina Department of Transportation in 1994. He was a longtime member of Lexington Baptist Church. Mr. Reed was a Sunday School teacher for over 25 years, chaplain at Lexington County Jail, and Boy Scout leader. He was a faithful and wonderful husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife, Mary E. Reed of Lexington; children, Cynthia J. Nowak (Jonathan E.), Margaret Williams (Ron G.), Mary Allen (Chuck) and Rebekah "Becky" Beck, all of Lexington; brothers and sisters, Rev. J.O. Reed, Jr. of West Columbia, Carolyn Grobe of Columbia, Florrie Brown of Lexington and Robert E.
