William Redd Obituary

William David Redd, Jr. Wadmalaw Island - William David Redd, Jr., 51, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 20, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date aboard the fishing boat El Tejano on the North Edisto River. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. David was born November 9, 1969, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, son of Suzanne Stevens Redd and the late William David Redd. He was the Captain of the Sport Fishing Yacht, El Tejano for the last twenty years. David was a licensed captain, an accomplished gunsmith, a competitive shooter and an avid outdoorsman. His contagious laugh left a lasting impact on everyone he met. David truly touched everyone with love, kindness, honesty, and loyalty. He embodied all that is unique and good about the Lowcountry. His absence will be more than a personal loss. It is a cultural loss. Charleston is today... just a little less Southern. After the death of his father, David spent the last twenty years nurtured by Marilynn and John Hill. He treasured the relationships he created within the entire Rockville community who quickly became his family. Our family would like to thank this community including Heather, Frank, Chris, Bobby, Steve and so many others for supporting David for all these years. David was preceded in death by his father, William David Redd; and is survived by his mother, Suzanne Stevens Redd of Charleston, SC; sister, Martha Sue Redd Watkins (Wes) of Charlotte, NC; two nieces: Mason Daughaday (John) and Leize Watkins; and nephew, Carter Watkins, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorials may be made to Rockville Presbyterian Church, 2479 Sea Island Yacht Club Rd., Wadmalaw Island, SC 29487. A memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com. Visit our guestbook at legacy.com/obituaries/charleston

My heart goes out to his family for this tragic loss. When I was working the docks at the City Marina during the Mega Dock bill fish tournament I will never forget his kindness, politeness, and friendliness while working the docks. He always asked how your day was going and made sure you were taken care of.

Suzie, Martha Sue and family,
I was so broken hearted to hear the sad news of David's passing. I cannot imagine the heartache of losing a child. David was the finest young man and never without that enormous smile. He was always happy to have a conversation with you....even in the middle of Wal-Mart. May God be with each of you as you try to move forward. Heaven's gained a bright and smiling star! My love and condolences to all of you.

Suzie,
My heart goes out to you and Martha Sue. I know the pain of losing a child, there is nothing to compare. Also of losing a husband, and a brother. You are in our prayers, because I also have experienced the strength that God can give you when you think life has given you more than you can bare. My love to all your family, Jerry
