William J. Racosky Sr.
William J. Racosky Sr., 82, of Allentown, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2007 in his home. He was the husband of Elsie (Illigasch) Racosky and they celebrated their 58th anniversary last July. Born in Raven Run, Pa., he was a son of the late Michael and Caroline (Petrilla) Racosky. Mr. Racosky worked as a laborer for PPL, Allentown, for 20 years prior to retiring in 1987. He was a second lieutenant in the Army Air Corps serving as a bombardier in the Pacific Theater of operations during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Allentown. He was a member of the National Sokols, the Catholic Sokols and Rosemont Fire Company. He played for many years for the former Beth-Allen Orioles baseball team. He umpired for many years and was active as a coach for the Bethlehem Boys Club and East Side Rams, Allentown. Survivors: Surviving with his wife are sons, William J. of Allentown, Robert M. and his wife, Brenda, of Whitehall and Roger M. and his wife, Kathy, of Bethlehem; a brother, Thomas of Harborton, Va.; sisters, Pauline Mann of Bath and Irene, wife of Leroy Solderich, of Lawrenceville, N.J.; grandchildren, Alexandra and Mitchell. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Michael, and a sister, Irene Judt. Services: will be on Wednesday at 9:40 a.m. in the ODonnell Funeral Home, 908 Hanover Ave., Allentown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the church. Calling hours will be from 8-9:40 a.m. on Wednesday. Contributions: May be sent to the church or Sacred Heart Hospice.
