There was no finer patriot and dedicated citizen than Col. Bill Plowden. A loyal friend to Strom throughout his years of public service, Bill was often at his side for the benefit of our State. Bill's dedicated service to our veterans, The American Legion and Boys State was profound. We extend our deepest sympathy and love to William, June, Martha, Reggie, and all of the Plowden, West, and Grigg families, Nancy Thurmond

My right honorable friend. It was an honor to have worked with you as a fellow veteran. I will never forget you always telling us that our number one priority was to get the veterans of SC a job. A kinder gentleman never existed and you will be missed. You served your country with highest honors. Bless you Mr. Plowden, you made my life a little better.
