William Murray Obituary

William Murray N. Charleston - William Luther Murray "Bogie", "Bill" and/or "Bubba", 68, of North Charleston, passed away at his home, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 He was born December 8, 1950, in Charleston, SC. Bogie had a passion for animals, mostly dogs and allowed his daughters and wife to bring many strays into the home throughout the years. He was smart and could fix anything except plumbing, he didn't want to mess with plumbing. He loved gardening. He just completed building a working replica of a Navy frigate the USS Crockett while taking a break from building his submarine. He worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, later retired with NAVSEACENLANT. Retirement didn't agree with him so he began working at Deyton's Shipyard. Worked with Bill at FTSCLANT Mayport, FL for 4 years and there was truly nothing he couldn't fix. He was a mentor to me and all that he worked with and he will be missed.

Bogie, you are missed! He was that friend that you could lose contact with for a number of years and when we reconnected, it was like we never were apart. He was a great musician and bassist. I can still picture in my mind memories of him walking across the stage with his hair blowing behind him as he got down on his bass. When I was in the seventh grade, the garage band he formed with some classmates, were practicing under his parents garage. They taught me how to play Fire by Jim Hendrix on the keyboard. That was the turning point that showed me what I was going to do with all the piano lessons I took throuout high school. We both had different paths with our music but many times those paths crossed and for that, i and others are grateful; thankyou Bogie. You and I talked a great deal about heaven after we both lost our wives. So with that said, I'm looking forward to when we are playing together for the Lord. I believe you and Pat are together and y'all are playing and dancing for the Lord....."I Can Only Imagine." Till we are together again.....love you Bogie,
James

Loved working with Bill at the shipyard for many years. And we just reunited at a shop 67 dinner just a number of days ago. He will be missed by all who know him.
