William Morris Obituary

William Reaves Morris WILMINGTON, NC - William Reaves Morris, 56, died March 31, 2022 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Mr. Morris was born in Charlotte, NC on December 27, 1965 to Mr. and Mrs. William R. Morris. Reaves is survived by his children, Kaya Rising Morris and Django Reaves Morris, and their mother, Mary Turnbach Morris, of Myrtle Beach, SC; mother, Mary Reaves Morris, of Wilmington, NC; sister, Ashley Morris Engemann (John), of Cary, NC; and beloved cousin, Nell Reaves Coffey (Anson), of Mooresville, NC. In addition, he is survived by many other adoring friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews (Will, Charlie, Kenton) and nieces (Katie, Midori), who will miss him dearly. Reaves was preceded in death by his father, William Rufus Morris, and grandparents, Mary Rising Reaves, Thomas William Reaves, Mildred Grigg Morris, and Charles Edgar Morris, Sr. Reaves loved traveling and was an adventurous soul. At different times he lived in Alaska, Seattle, San Diego, and Charleston before settling down in Wilmington. He had a degree in marine biology and loved the ocean and all things aquatic. Reaves cherished his children Kaya and Django more than anything in the world. He was extremely proud of them and their many accomplishments. He enjoyed boating, fishing, playing guitar, video games, and traveling with his kids. He instilled his love of music and guitar in Kaya and his love of science and reading in Django. More recently, Reaves left his mark in Wilmington, NC by creating beautiful yard structures and landscape designs. Reaves, unfortunately, was not able to realize his dream of retiring to the beautiful locales of Costa Rica or Scotts Hill, but he was able to extend the gift of life through organ donation and hopefully the recipients will be able to carry on his zest for living. A celebration of Reaves' life will be held on May 14, 2022 at the home of his mother. Donations in Reaves' memory can be directed to an account established to assist his children with future college expenses (https://gofund.me/21c520d8).
