Dear Mrs. Mescher and family:
I was very shocked and so very sorry to hear of the loss of such a very good man. Many in Hanahan knew him to be a man of honor and high integrity and moral values. It was an honor to have known him, worked with him and considered him a trusted friend. You and the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Kitty and family,
I was greatly distressed to open the newspaper and discover the death of a man I considered to be a friend and a very good man. You have my deepest sympathies.
When I was actively involved in Republican politics in Dorchester County, I got to see Bill in action. He was always there working for the people of the low country. He stood head and shoulders above most politicians of this era. He thought through each issue and reached his own opinion of what was best for the people of our state. I remember how much he helped get my deceased wife Jane appointed to the Dorchester County Election Commission. He always added his personal touch to his politics. That touch was that of a gentleman. He will be missed greatly.

Dear Kitty:
Please know that you and your family are in our prayers. We understand your grief, your loss - but we know that you find comfort and peace in the midst of it all through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It's a peace that the world doesn't understand - you won't ever stop missing Bill's physical presence, but you know that he's safe and secure in the arms of our Savior and that you will be reunited with him in the future. That's the hope and peace that comes through our faith - that's the promise of God. May the arms of our Saviour envelope you with His love and may you find the peace, comfort, strength and encouragement through Him.
Love, Mary & Charles

Mrs. Kitty, We were so sorry to hear of your loss. He was a wonderful person. I appreciated his support of PTA also, he always had time to talk to us about our concerns. He made a big impression on my son when he joined us for dinner at a PTA legislative conference a few years ago. He will be sorely missed. We enjoyed working for him the many years he served as Santee Cooper president. He brought this company into the 20th century. Your family will be in our prayers.

Dear Kitty & Family,
My deepest sympathy to you. We had the priviledge of being touched by a great man. It is a sad day in Berkeley County, no one will be able to fill Bill's shoes. I will never forget what Bill said to me one night at a county council meeting- If a politician loses his word he has nothing- He had everything. He was an Honest man. Each life is a miracle that changes the world... and leaves it a better place than it was before- He did. As the days and weeks pass, and you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. God never makes a mistake, He never promised sun without rain, or blue skies, or pain, but He does promise strength through His Grace and Love. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you!

Dear Kitty:

You know I will miss our times together with Bill so much, but those times will never be forgotten. He had so many interests to share.

He wore the mantle of FRIENDSHIP so easily and all in his presence warmed under it.

He couldn't solve all our problems, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying. He worked honestly, sincerely and steadfastly with good humour.

His good, creative influence was felt all over the world and his departure from us leaves an enormous void in the lives of all of us.

All in my family and circle of friends who met him, loved him, and we all send our love and warm regards to you and your lovely family for sharing this talented man's energies with us.

I am here for you whenever you need me,

Love

He was a man of integrity, never a man of many words but you always knew the words he did speak were important and spoken with great conviction. A quality that is rare these days.

I will always cherish my time working with him, his friendship and his warm smile. My heart goes out to you, Ms Kitty, and your family. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Please accept my heartfelt sympathy in the home going of your father, Bill Mescher. Prior committments, both Tuesday and Wednesday prevent me from attending the services. To The Mescher Family,
I just wanted you to know how sorry we are for your loss, having spoke with Mr. Mescher just last week all of this comes as quite a shock.
Please know that it is Gods plan to reward his faithful servants with a mansion eternal in the heavens...Mr. Mescher was just that... a faithful servant to God and to his extended family (citizens) here in Berkeley County. Please allow me to offer you this scripture and a prayer. May God Continue To Bless The Mescher Family.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.
II Corinthians 1: 3

Precious Lord!

We come to You with a broken heart. We are unable to accept this sudden loss of our precious one Lord! We feel utterly lost and terribly lonely! There is none to comfort us beside You. We turn to You Lord and shed tears at Your feet.

Lord You shed tears when Lazarus died and You know the anguish of a bereaved soul. You have promised to comfort us and be with us when we walk through the valley of tears and sorrow. Be with us O Lord, and engulf us with Your comforting presence. Even now as we cry to You and wash Your feet with our tears, console us just as a mother would and wipe away our tears.

Let our anguished soul find rest in You, Master! O, Lord please embrace us and surround us with Your strength and comfort. We lean upon Your bosom Lord! You have said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people." Lord, please be a Father to us and lead us. Let the peace which surpasses all understanding descend upon us. Be with us Lord; strengthen our hands and set our feet on high with all humility, we offer this prayer in the sweet and precious name of JESUS!

Amen.

Ms. Mescher and family: Senator Mescher and I have been sharing our love of Purple Martins for years. He was dedicated to wildlife conservation, and he will be missed by friends and his birds. Let me know if I can do anything to help with his beloved birds.

To Kitty Mescher and family,
Senator Bill Mescher was a great man! He was such a people person and he gave us all so much to make our lives better in this state and in this community. He made a difference because he found God's purpose for his life very early. He always made me feel special whenever we would meet.

Yesterday we celebrated a risen savior (Easter) at church and today we sit with tearful eyes but Bill sees clearly our Savior’s Face. He sits at God’s table tonight but don’t you just know that Bill is making room for us all!
I miss him already but he will never be so far away that we can't feel him and you don't have to look very hard to see the impact he has had on so many individuals like myself.
May God bless the entire Mescher family and to my friend Senator Bill Mescher I'll see you soon!
