William McTighe Obituary

William Joseph McTighe MT. PLEASANT - William Joseph McTighe, 95, of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Westwood, MA, and husband of Dorothy Mary Strittmatter McTighe, died Saturday, June 14, 2014. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, at 11:00 am. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will be private. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm where a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm. William was born April 23, 1919 in Quincy, MA, son of the late Michael Francis McTighe and the late Catherine Ann Driscoll McTighe. He attended New York University, and was a founder and CEO of The Wheeler Group and Wheeler Industries, Inc. Previously, he served as the National Sales Manager of Bunting Brass and Bronze and metallurgical engineer at Wright Aeronautical. He served as a Trustee of The Roxbury Latin School, West Roxbury, MA and was a founding organizer of Little League baseball in Auburn, MA. He was a parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant, SC. He is survived by three sons, William Joseph McTighe, Jr. and his wife Mary of Charleston, SC, Robert Michael McTighe and his wife Jean of Wellesley, MA, Thomas Michael McTighe and his wife Maria of Mount Pleasant, SC; one daughter, Mary Catherine Prelack and her husband Steven of Mount Pleasant, SC and formerly of Medfield, MA; nine grandchildren, Michael McTighe; Anne and Elizabeth McTighe; Cecelia, Ruth and Clare McTighe; Christopher, Jennifer and Sean Prelack. Memorial donations may be made to St. Benedict Catholic Church, 950 Darrell Creek Trail, Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29466 and a memorial message may be sent to the family by visiting www.jhenrystuhr.com .
