William McCullough Obituary

William McCullough Kingstree, SC - William Watson "Bill" McCullough, 74, died Monday, August 15, 2022, in his beloved town of Uzes in southern France after an illness. Graveside services will be 3 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 3905 Big Woods Road, Kingstree, SC. Bill's family will receive friends at 4 PM following the service at 624 Cedar Swamp Road, Kingstree, SC. Mr. McCullough was born June 24, 1948, in Kingstree, SC, the son of the late John Watson McCullough and Dorothy Brown McCullough. He was a graduate of Kingstree High School, Baptist College, and the National Academy of Art. Bill was an elected member of the Salmagundi Club in New York City, one of the oldest art organizations in the United States, and a member of The Art Students League of New York City. Bill's art hangs in the collections of The Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, SC, Greenville County Museum of Art in Greenville, SC, and The Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, LA. Bill was a member of St Albans Episcopal Church in Kingstree. Surviving Mr. McCullough are his daughters, Currie McCullough and Katie Long and their mother, Kathy McCullough; grandchildren, Finian and Chloe Butcher; and son, Kilian Iviglia. In addition to Bill's parents, Watson and Dorothy McCullough, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gracie McCullough Jordan. Memorials may be made to The William McCullough Foundation at www.mcculloughartsfoundation.org, a foundation formed to sponsor artists retreats in Bill's house in Southern France as well as his farm in Kingstree.
