William Laursen Obituary

William Arnold "Bill" Laursen SAINT AUGUSTINE, FL - William Arnold "Bill" Laursen, age 85, of the Coquina Crossing community in Elkton, died on October 25, 2009 in Saint Augustine. He was born in Marlette, Michigan and was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL., Charleston, S.C., and Camden, S.C. He had been a resident of the St. Augustine area since June 2008. Bill served his country in U.S. Navy during W.W. II. in the Asiatic and Pacific theaters. After returning to civilian life, Bill began working for Chrysler Corporation. His work in the auto industry continued for more than three decades. He was a partner and General Manager for D&S Motors in Raleigh, N.C., owned and operated Mid City Chrysler Plymouth in Jacksonville, was Dealer and General Manager of West Ashley Toyota in Charleston, S.C., and owned and operated Bill Laursen Toyota in Camden, S.C. He was a member of Sebring United Methodist Church in Sebring, Fl. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold & Marie Laursen, a brother, Duane Laursen, and a sister, Delphine Laursen Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Laursen of Elkton, FL., a daughter, Cheryl Larsen Burrow of Plano, Texas, sons, Kim Stewart Laursen and his wife, Cheryl of St. Augustine, Ky Steven Laursen and his wife Terry of Thailand, William Arnold Laursen, Jr. and his wife, Ellen of Columbia, S.C., grandchildren, Shannon Bishop and her husband Steven, Shaun Laursen and his wife Ashley, Kristen Faulhaber and her husband Jacob, William Arnold "Tripp" Laursen, III, Taylor Laursen, and great grandchildren, Kaitland Bishop and Ryan Bishop.
