William Darke Higgs ISLE OF PALMS - William Darke Higgs, 83, of Isle of Palms, SC died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. The memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 3222 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC 29482. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. William Higgs, better known as Bill Higgs, was born May 10th 1929, the son of James & Audrey Higgs and grew up in Staunton Virginia. Mr. Higgs was married to Ellen Mary Francis Manning for over 50 years. After Ellen's passing, he married Sara Michelin in 2008. He served his country in the Korean War and was a graduate of University of Richmond and a Certified Public Accountant. Before retiring, he was the Business Manager for WTVD-TV, Channel 11 in Durham, NC for over 30 years. A loving father and husband, Mr. Higgs is survived by his wife Sara Michelin of Isle of Palms, SC, a son William Darke Higgs Jr. of Atlanta, GA, a daughter Stacey Higgs Gibson of Blowing Rock, NC, three grandchildren, Mathew Higgs, Megan Higgs and Kathleen Gibson, as well as a sister, Brooke Deacon, and three brothers James Higgs, Ned Higgs and John Higgs all of Staunton, VA..
