William Pinckney Greene III FOLLY BEACH - William Pinckney Greene III, 78 years old, better known as Pinckney, resident of Folly Beach, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Pinckney was born on April 27,1945 in Abbeville, SC, the only son of the late William P. Greene, Jr. and Phyllis Yarborough Greene. Pinckney is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Becky Tribble Greene, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Chuck Shimakonis, a nephew and niece, Chris and Lisa Shimakonis, two great-nephews, Chase and Chad Shimakonis, nephew, Tad DuBose(Kimberly), other nieces, many friends and colleagues, and fur babies, Petey and Prissy. Pinckney graduated from Abbeville High School in 1963. He attended Lander University and the University of South Carolina, earning a BA in Theater and Drama. For the past 25 years he owned and operated a successful used car business before retiring in December 2022. Pinckney will be missed by many and remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his great stories and his love of all animals.
