Memories of uncle Bill visiting us in Alaska are strong. Some of my very first memories include him yet he lived so far away. There was never any doubt that uncle Bill loved us because he showed us on his rare visits. Several years ago I spent two weeks with him and aunt Fran and got to experience uncle Bill as an adult. I'll forever hold on to the feeling of his hugs, his strength, his humor and his love of aunt Fran and my mom. And I will never forget him telling my 45-year old self "that's enough, Kelli. Go to bed".

To my family, you're in my prayers. To uncle Bill, you taught me what respect meant. I will love you forever and will see you in all of God's glory.

Remembering my brother Bill, and when I was little, I called him Brother Bill. He always stayed in touch and found us wherever we were living and it seemed like we lived in a different place every time he was able to come and visit us. Then later when I was older he taught me how to change oil in my car, an old Volkswagon that he had restored. He helped me a lot in a lot of things and he and Fran always welcomed Jay, and Casey, and I into their home and hearts. He is why I went into the Air Force and had many great adventures. He appreciated the small things of life like watching an eagle fly or a pretty sun set. He took me on a trip once and we drove down to San Diego and Laguna Beach and looked at all the places he had lived as a kid. He loved me and I loved him and that love is still in my heart and always will be.

Bill Duncan was the greatest SIM Instructor I ever knew. He taught me the 141's electronics system like nobody else could have. He was able to get through to me. One of the best FE's I ever knew. I treated Bart the way Bill treated me - with respect and trust. I hope I had a tenth of the impact on 141 flight engineers as Bill did.

Fran, Dena, Bart, & Family,

With all our heart we love you and pray for God's mercy and grace to provide comfort to each of you.

Bill profoundly touched our lives in remarkable ways:

*He had a unique way of respecting all of us with his very own brand of genuine honesty. If Bill agreed with us, he said so; and likewise, when he disagreed he had the fortitude and courage to express his true feelings and thoughts.
*In every way Duncan maintained open and direct candor -
From his answer to some questions:
“I'd rather eat a bug” -
To his sincere regard, consideration, and thoughtfulness in providing encouragement, words of support, and caring advise during our personal times of loss and sorrow.
*His integrity ensured decency, fairness, and dignity to all of us blessed enough to have worked with Duncan throughout the years. There were so many times that his direct actions made a vital difference for the benefit of others.
*The years Bill served our country is a significant example of character for generations to come. Indeed, Freedom is not Free!
*On a more personal/individual note - we cherish the many years of traveling with Bill & Fran (Laughlin, Canada, Alaska, Durango, California Redwoods, Tahoe, Tucson . . .) - these memories are treasured forever.

We are all better individuals for knowing Bill Duncan - what a true honor and privilege to share in life's journey with him.

Our final earthly message to Bill:
“Thank you from the depths of our heart, dear friend, for all the memories we shared together. God Speed, until we meet again.”

Fran & Family: May God Bless & give each of You loving comfort. You remain in our hearts and in our prayers.

Love Your Friends Always, Jim & Judy Copeland

Bill Duncan was a friend. He and I were fellow "inmates", i.e., patients, at the Summerville Medical Center's Cardiac Rehab program under the expert care and management of RNs Judy LeGates and Jen Williamson for two or three years. Bill and I shared stories of flying and other life experiences of career military men via the exchange of many emails over the years; although our trails in the service of our country never crossed as he was Air Force and I was an Army aviator, he and I were able to communicate in the familiar language of flight.
Bill Duncan was a good man; I am honored to have known him. I extend my most sincere condolences to you, Mrs. Duncan, to your daughter and son, and to your entire family.
