William Dull Obituary

William Martin Dull CHARLESTON - William Martin Dull, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, died Friday, August 19, 2011. Bill was born June 24, 1924, in Buchanan, Michigan. Upon graduation from the University of Michigan he served in the United States Navy in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Detroit Edison after 45 years as a registered Professional Engineer. He was active in many professional and civic organizations to include the Navy League, Honorary Member of the Naval Academy Alumni, Life Member of the American Legion, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Stella Maris Men's Club, Engineering Society of Detroit, Edison Boat Club, Detroit Yacht Club, Coastal Carolina Antique Automobile Club, United States Power Squadron, Junior Achievement, ASHRAE, NSPE and World Medical Relief. He was an exceptionally kindhearted and loving man. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Ann Dull; children Richard William Dull (Gayle) of Colorado; Beverly Ann Rankey (Kevin) of Ohio; Lt. Commander William McMillan Dull, of Japan (fiance Michelle Pang of Singapore); grandchildren Sheridan Dull, Brittany Sciafe (Logan), Elyse Rankey, Jennifer Rankey, sister Phyllis Lieber of Michigan. He was predeceased by his first wife Barbara Glenn Dull and his parents Curtis and Daisey Sharp Dull. Relatives and friends are invited to share with the family a celebration of life at their home in Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 24 at 1:00 PM at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle Street, Sullivan's Island, SC, 29482. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Stella Maris Church for the Youth Committee or Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, SC, 29464.
