William Duckworth Obituary
William Duckworth, a proud and devoted United States Marine Corps veteran, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina, at the age of 77. Born on June 10, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, William was the beloved son of the late William A. Duckworth and Josephine Duckworth. William served his country with honor for over 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. The Corps was not just a career for him, it was his way of life. His dedication, strength, and sense of duty defined him throughout his years of service and beyond. Known for his strong will and deep love for his country, William held the values of loyalty, courage, and resilience. He carried those principles into every aspect of his life, earning the respect of all who knew him. His faith gave him strength in difficult times and peace in the end, and those who knew him could see that his heart was anchored in something greater than himself. Outside of his military service, William had a passion for the open road and was rarely seen without his Harley-Davidson gear. He found joy and freedom in riding his motorcycles, and he was proud to be part of a community that shared his love for the ride. William Duckworth will be remembered as a patriot, a Marine through and through, and a man who lived life on his own terms. His legacy of strength, service, and loyalty will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Semper Fi. He is survived by his loving children: William M. Duckworth and Kristi Lyn Parker (Mark); his grandchildren: Zachary Alexander, Christopher Paul Parker, Chase Parker, Angel Madison Parker, and Haley Brooke Crane (Kevin); his great grandchildren: Harper, Hollyn, and Finnley; as well as his siblings: Charles Moore and David Moore. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Eugene Duckworth; his parents; his sister, Sherri Taylor; as well as his spouse, Kristine Riggle. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 5pm to 6pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 6pm in the Chapel. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, beginning at 12pm at Beaufort National Cemetery.
