William Caley Obituary

William Brown Caley MOORE, SC - William Brown Caley, local tax consultant, avid golfer, and "cattle farmer", died Tuesday at his home after a long illness, surrounded by loving family and devoted caretakers. He was 78. He was born on December 19, 1935 in Greenport, NY. Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Towns Caley; sister, Flossie Caley of Birmingham, AL; daughters Marie Anne Caley (Wayne) of Cowpens, Melinda Caley Stoehr (Bill) of Granada Hills, CA; and son Michael Towns Caley (Rhonda) of Odessa, Texas. He was adored by his grandchildren, DJ, Matt, Morgan, and McKenzie. Bill served in Libya while in the U.S. Air Force. He left military service in 1958 in Charleston, where he met the love of his life, Mary, and they were married in December of that year. They moved to Columbia, where he attended the University of South Carolina, graduating in 1962. During his matriculation at USC, he and Mary worked and raised their three precious children. He joined the U. S. Department of Treasury in 1964 and later retired to establish his tax consulting business. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 1:00 PM at Nazareth Presbyterian Church, 680 Nazareth Church Road in Moore. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 PM prior to the service in the church social hall. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of SC, 1612 N. Limestone St, Gaffney, SC 29340, Nazareth Presbyterian Church, or the charity of one's choice. The family wishes to thank Hospice Care of SC for the excellent care they provided Bill for two years. In particular, the family is grateful to his personal caretaker, Jeanette Turner, for the loving and meticulous care she rendered Bill. He grew to love Jeanette for her generous and loving spirit.
