William Byrd Obituary

William Blakely "Billy" Byrd ST. GEORGE, SC - William Blakely "Billy" Byrd, 68, husband of Karen Rogers Byrd, of St. George entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 18, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Billy's life will be 10 A.M. Wednesday at the Indian Field Methodist Campground with Rev. Dr. Theron Smith officiating. His family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery at a later date. Billy was born in St. George on May 2, 1947 a son of the late John Blake Byrd and Mary Louise Beach Byrd Shuler. He was an electrician and owner of High-Light Electric, LLC, a farmer, and retired from Holcim Cement Company of Holly Hill and was the current Custodian of the Indian Field Methodist Campmeeting Campground. He was a 1966 graduate of St. George High School and served in US Army in Vietnam where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Army Commendation Medal. He was a lifelong member of St. George United Methodist Church and was predeceased by a sister, Janice Byrd and step-son Justin Hoff. Surviving are his loving wife, Karen Rogers Byrd; a son, William Brock (Kacy) Byrd, all of St. George; a daughter, Tiffany (Shannon) Heber, Ridgeville; a step-son, Tyson (Katie) Hoff, Summerville; grandchildren: Jessen Heber, Madison Matthews, Wyatt Byrd, Emma Kate Hoff, Maddie Herndon, Drew Hoff, Ann McLeod Hoff, and Will Hoff; sister, Sharon (Tuggy) Veronee, Chapin.
