Vernon was THE craft-school exceptional-student/assistant-extraorinaire! I have appreciated Vernon for many years as a sidekick in fiber arts. I consider Vernon and Anita to be good friends of mine: folks who have been consistent and supportive over the years. Vernon was the very best #1 workshop assistant I've ever worked with, once at JC Campbell Folk School and again at Arrowmont. He was so attentive, anticipating every need. More importantly, he was the most fun to hang out with after class! A beer or wine, conversation, and endless humor! Everyone knew and loved Vernon. Vernon was an extraordinary person, I've never met anyone like him. He will be so very missed: including the occasional postcard with pylons or dead armadillos, clad in shibori and indigo. Vernon you were such an exceptional person and artist!

I have known Vernon for many years and he was a great friend and co-worker. He will be greatly missed at Arrowmont. I have several of his shirts and scarves. You all are in my thoughts and prayer's. Jeff Webb.

Met Vernon through pottery. Discovered that he had worked on a surveyor crew and had originally surveyed our property. Also discovered Anita was a quilter with my mom. Will miss Vernon greatly, especially the armadillos.
