Willard Davis Obituary

Willard Davis RAVENEL, SC - James Willard "TooGooDoo" Davis, 85, of Ravenel, husband of Linda Pope Davis, went to be with the Lord on February 4th, 2024, at home. He was the son of the late Jesse W. Davis and Bessie H. Davis, born on October 19th, 1938. Willard loved the outdoors, as was evidenced by his 50 years of operating heavy equipment. He worked for individually owned companies, helping to construct I-26 in North Charleston; Charleston County Public Works, where he was known as "TooGooDoo"; and at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. His real love was gardening, hunting, and fishing. He loved to plant and grow vegetables to share with others. At the age of 33, he married Linda and they spent 51 years together. They made their home on the same property that he had lived on since he was 2 years old, except for a few months on Smoak Road in Meggett, following their marriage. He was a long-time member of Sauldam Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Linda; sons, Mark W. Davis and Randal D. Davis; three sisters, Elaine Mizell, Mary Anna Chinners, Patricia Day (Rick); sister-in-law, Lisa Pope Sanders (Dwayne); Mother-in-law, Mary McCoy Pope; and numerous nieces and nephews. Thanks are given to all medical and physical therapy personnel that have helped him along the way. Funeral Services will be held at Sauldam Baptist Church on February 8th, 2024, at 2 o'clock with Interment at Hopewell Baptist Church in Parker's Ferry. Visitation will be at James A. Dyal Funeral Home on February 7th, 2024, from 6 to 8 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sauldam Baptist Church or Hopewell Baptist Church.
