Wilbur Jones Obituary

Wilbur Junior Jones, 90, of Summerville, SC entered into eternal rest on August 12, 2025 at his home. Wilbur was born on August 22, 1934 in Charleston, SC. Son of the late Johnie and Addie Jones. He graduated from St. Pauls High School, Class of 1952. He met the love of his life while attending school and later married Bessie on July 19, 1957. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. He owned and operated a station located in Ravenel, SC and was well known in the community as one who would help anyone in need. He later retired as a Shipfitter from the Charleston Naval Shipyard after 30 years of service. Wilbur enjoyed working with his hands doing woodworking in his shop. It was a highlight showcasing his work at craft shows with his wife and daughter. He loved to travel going to NASCAR races with his family. One of his favorite destinations was the Great Smokey Mountains. On the weekends he loved to watch his favorite golfer Tiger Woods. He loved to cook for his family and to plan the menu as this was his love language. One of his biggest loves was taking care of his wife and family but he would do anything to help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife Bessie Jones of 69 years. His 3 Children, Jay Jones, Larry Jones and Tina Wurscher. He had 8 Grandchildren, Travis Wurscher, Tiffani Wurscher, Larry Jones Jr, Wendy Jones, Brandy Taylor, Amber Jackson, Shelbie Jones and Maddie Jones along with several Great Grandchildren. Viewing will be from 6-8 on August 18,2025 at James A Dyal Funeral Home, 303 S Main Street Summerville, SC 29483. Funeral Services will begin at 11 on August 19,2025 at James A Dyal Funeral Home. Following the service the Burial will be held at First Baptist Church of Ravenel 5987 Hwy 165 Ravenel, SC 29470.
