Wayne Wiggins Obituary

Wayne Wiggins RIDGEVILLE, SC - With profound sadness and a very heavy heart my most cherished and very treasured lifelong devoted friend and a Givhans icon. Wayne Darrell Wiggins, 80 years young, of Givhans, South Carolina, was called home by his mother to be reunited at the gates of Heaven on the very same day his mother gained her wings 31 years ago. He passed away in the early hours on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home in Ridgeville, SC. Mr. Wiggins was born on September 27, 1944, and was a son of the late William Wiggins, Jr. and Isabelle "Belle" Gruber Wiggins. He graduated from Summerville High School, leaving an enduring legacy of service to both the United States Air Force and the United States Postal Service. Wayne Wiggins began a 40 year career working in the maintenance department for the United States Postal Service. His infectious laughter and his gentle humble demeanor and unwavering commitment to uplift others and his kind hearted helpful ways touched countless lives! Whether volunteering his time to help others or advocating for the under privileged, Wayne Wiggins embodied the true meaning of giving back and his spirit will continue to inspire us all! Wayne enjoyed many things in life including traveling, working in his two acre landscape, enjoying all sort of wonderful food and relaxing by his Japanese koi pond. Wayne was an avid gardener, spending countless hours in his two acre landscape with his devoted lifetime best friend of 43 years, Scotty Yensen. Mr. Wiggins' memory will be a reminder to everyone to live life to its fullest. Be genuine, warm and kind hearted! Wayne puts other people's needs before his own. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to helping others in need and his remarkable leadership skills, as well as his compassion and kindness. He was a true friend to everyone. Wayne left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him and his legacy will live on through the lessons he taught and the love he shared! Wayne Wiggins was always the kindest, the most generous, the most gentle, the most loving, the most humble and the most sincere young man on this planet! Mr. Wiggins died as he lived, with perseverance and grace. We all will truly miss him so very much! I, Scotty, will feel his absence forever and ever! Thanks for all of the memories that I will treasure forever! Like you said, "me and you till the end!' Here's to you, "Wiggly", my second father, fly high on that mountain boy! Mr. Wiggins is survived by his lifelong devoted best friend, Scotty Yensen; two sisters: Lyndia Coppa (John) and Sylvia Pierce (Paul); two brothers: George Wiggins (Nancy) and Ronald Wiggins (Diane). He was preceded in death by a sister, Priscilla Souza (Ed) and a brother, Doug Wiggins (Edith "Rabbit" Wiggins); as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. A big heartfelt appreciation to all of the medical team that made a real big difference in Mr. Wiggins nine year illness of his life. Scotty would like to thank all of the medical team that made a huge difference in his life, throughout his nine year illness. Dr. David Castellone, and Jaime Morris went above and beyond and are the best. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 6pm to 8pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483. The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30th, 2024, at 12:00pm at the funeral home. I considered Wayne not only a coworker but a close friend. He was kind and good-hearted; he never had a negative word about anyone. We stayed in contact after he and I both retired, i still to this day have a Rose bush in my memory garden that he gave to me for a housewarming gift in 2013. You will be sadly missed my friend, you are hopefully in a better place.

Worked with Wayne both on tour and off. Terrific man with a great personality. If ever I had a hard task to be done I could count on Wayne to see it through until completion. He had a terrific sense of humor and a contagious laugh that brought harmony to his entire shift. Rest in peace my friend.

I was lucky to know Wayne from work. He was a genuinely kind hearted person with a great sense of humor. He ordered me tools that I had a difficult time getting otherwise. Thank you my friend,

I carpooled with Wayne in the 70's when we worked at Dupont and also attended a party or two with him.Through those long drives to
work, I got to know Wayne whose laugh was hearty and contagious.

I always found him to be honest, candid, personable, a dependable worker and ride to work. He exhibited a high degree of character and integrity.
When I was out and about, he always had a spare hug.

Sincerely,
Cynthia S.
