WAYNE TERRY Obituary
RUFFIN-Wayne Owen Terry, 77, of 1480 Perkinson Road, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Wayne Kennon officiating. The burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Terry was born in Halifax County, VA on April 7, 1935 and was the son of the late Samuel S. and Doris Garrett Terry. Wayne was a truck driver for Dan River Mills and later married Selma in 1982. He loved to building birdhouses, collecting cars, going to car shows and watching his favorite T.V. shows. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Ann Pickeral; his sister, Joyce Martin.
Survivors include his wife, of over 30 years, Selma Gibson Terry of the home; son, Kenneth Wayne Terry of Ringgold, VA; daughter, Debra Terry Bostic and husband, Randall of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Anthony Wyatt, Amanda Bostic and Brittany Bostic; step-children, Faye Brande, Margaret Boaz, Penny Echols and husband, Tim, and Arelene Haymore; nine step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchidren; brothers, Nathaniel Terry and wife, Betty of South Boston, VA and William Terry of Danville, VA; sister, Virginia Brooks of Chatham, VA.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 4, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to The American Cancer Society; 4 A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407. I am sorry for your loss and I know what that feels like. By the time I received the news, the funeral had already taken place. I want you all to know that although our lives take us in different directions and apart, you remain my Family, I remain your Family. Nothing changes that.
