Wayne Eugene Eckert Jr. GOOSE CREEK - Wayne Eugene Eckert Jr. entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 17, 2021. The family will receive friends Friday, August 27, 2021, in the Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Services Inc., Ladson, 281 Treeland Dr., from 3:00 to 4:00pm. Wayne was born March 31, 1953, in Charleston, SC, son of the late Wayne Eugene "Joe" Eckert and the late Betty Ann Mitchum Eckert. He graduated from Goose Creek High School and was immediately drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was an outstanding baseball, softball player and avid backyard griller. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Kelly Ann Bates Eckert of Hanahan, SC; son, Wayne Eugene "Gene" Eckert III and his wife, Ashley, of Goose Creek, SC; two grandsons: Joseph Eugene Eckert and William Tyler Eckert. He was preceded in death by his two brothers: John Michael Eckert and Richard Glenn Eckert both of Goose Creek, SC. Wayne will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
