Warren Ransom Obituary

Warren A. Ransom, Jr. MT. PLEASANT - Warren A. Ransom, Jr. died of pancreatic cancer on January 8, 2016 at the age of 85. Born in Rye, New York, Warren graduated from the Taft School and Yale College '54. He served three years in Germany with the Army Air Corps, flying observation planes for the artillery. Following his service, he had a 16-year career with The Bank of New York, and then became a real estate broker selling commercial and residential properties. Warren excelled as an athlete and sportsman, participating in the Norway Olympics in 1967, where he raced an International One Design sailboat. He was a ranked squash player, playing squash competitively for the Yale Club, and also competing in invitational matches in the U.S. and Canada. He was also an avid and exceptional tennis player - a sport he relished his whole life. Warren, his wife Laurie Patrono Ransom and three children, Warren III, Nicholas and Ashley enjoyed summers in their beloved North Hatley, Quebec. Upon retirement, Warren and Laurie lived in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, his three children and his five grandchildren, Warren IV, Avery, Bodie, Elias and Amelie. A memorial service will be held in North Hatley, Quebec this summer. Visitors will be welcomed to the Ransom house on Wednesday, January 13th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston at 4975 Lacross Rd, Suite 200, North Charleston, SC 29406 or St. to Judes' Children's Hospital.
