Warren Barnett Phelps MT. PLEASANT - Warren Barnett Phelps, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of the late Lorene Fearnside Phelps, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. The family will receive family and friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC on Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. And at White Funeral Home and Cremations, 603 Ocean Hwy W, Supply NC on Sunday, April 19, 3:00-6:00 pm, with a service to follow in the Chapel of White Funeral Home at 6:00 pm, officiated by Warren's niece Reverend Stephanie Croom. Burial will be at 11:00 am in Prospect Cemetery, Supply, NC on Monday, April 20, 2015. Warren was born June 5, 1924 in Brunswick County, North Carolina, son of the late George B. Phelps and the late Bertha Clemmons Phelps. He proudly served the Greyhound Bus Company for 35 years. He was deeply respected by his fellow drivers and known for his safe driving, punctuality and caring ways for his numerous passengers. He enjoyed time with his family, and most of all eating coconut pies. Warren was an avid gardener and farmer, enjoying time on his ford tractor and land. His Baptist faith was special to him. Closest to his heart were the family reunions, birthdays and celebrations at the "Old Place" (family farm) in Supply, NC. Warren dearly loved bringing all his extended family and friends together. His gentle demeanor was often displayed through his wonderful, playful sense of humor. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all. He is survived by daughters, Frances (Dennis, Sr.) Ward and, Carolyn Phelps of Mount Pleasant, SC; one grandson, Dennis (Cate Aubuchon) Ward, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; siblings, Lillian (Roosevelt) Batson of Holland, MI, Flossie (Jimmie) Clemmons of Wilmington, NC, and Cecil (Rutha) Phelps of Shallotte, NC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of them his favorite. He was preceded in death by siblings, Vivian V. (Homer) Phelps, Charles B. (Ethel) Phelps, and Floyd H. Phelps. Warren is survived by Floyd's wife, Annette Phelps of Wilmington, NC.
