I worked with Walt at Delta and we became good friends. I also knew Elaine from Delta. I will always remember my times with Walt and my prayers are always with Elaine and her family.

I first knew Walt as a Ga Tech Co-op Engineering student in the Engineering Dept at Delta in the 1960s. I worked with and for him until his retirement in the 1990s. He had a way of bringing out the best in people through a process of questioning, humor, and gentle leadership. He also was a role model in demonstrating to many of us how an iconoclast and independent thinker could be very effective in a large organization. For many from that time period, he epitomized the best of the pioneering spirit of aviation. He was certainly also a personal role model for many, including myself.
