Walter Jackson Obituary

Walter Jackson, Jr. Johns Island - Walter "Bud" Jackson of Johns Island, SC passed away peacefully in the presence of family on December 4, 2017. Bud was born on February 14, 1949 in Peekskill, NY, son of the late Marie Ferdon Jackson and the late Walter Edgar Jackson, Sr. He resided for most his life in Hopewell Junction, NY before settling in Charleston, SC in 2013. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Cacchio of Johns Island, SC; daughter, Lisa Jackson Roina, and her husband, Ralph, of Johns Island, SC; son, Matthew Jackson, and his wife, Katherine of Charleston, SC; and grandchildren: Ethan, Colin, Stella, and Benjamin. Bud enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, vacations with family, listening to Eddie Arnold and Roy Orbison, laughing at old Chevy Chase movies, and spoiling his chihuahua Chuck. He found greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren. A Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, retiree of Metro North Railroad and consultant with Garg Consulting, Bud held lifelong friendships from those and all areas of his life. Anyone who knew Bud would speak to his incredible generosity, loyalty, work ethic, and love for family and country. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel. Bud will be buried next to his first wife Patricia Jackson in Hillside Cemetery of Cortland Manor, NY. Memorial donations in his name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. To Bud's family, I offer my sincerest and deepest condolences on your loss. Bud's passing is a loss to many. Bud was the project lead on my PTC railroad signal project. His many decades of experience made him invaluable to the project and to me. His knowledge was unmatched and he taught me much. Bud's personality, commitment and selfless style quickly earned my respect and we easily became friends. Bud was one of those rare finds in a lifetime and I am so thankful and feel honored that I had the opportunity to know him, even if it was only for a short period of time. I will miss his wisdom and friendship dearly. RIP my friend.

To Buddy's family, please accept my sincere condolences. I knew Buddy from MNRR, and also made the pilgrimage to Marathon NY for the Annual golf outing several times.
Although he is in a better place, I hope that time,a great healer will give you the peace that you seek.
RIP Buddy
