Walter Ciaschini Obituary

CIASCHINI, Walter Walter A. Ciaschini, 83, of Venice, FL and Greensboro, VT, passed away December 11, 2007 at the home of his daughter, Carol Storey in North Charleston, SC after a long illness with cancer. He was born in Northampton, MA., the son of the late Aurelio and Eva Tadie Ciaschini on April 11, 1924. He married Mary A. Boardman on November 8, 1947, and they enjoyed all of 60 years together. He is survived by his three daughters, Nancy E. Ciaschini and her husband, Joseph Berti, of Lenox, MA, Carol A. Storey and her husband Bill of Charleston, SC, and Lisa C. Clark and her husband Mark of Torrington, CT. Also survived by five grandsons, Geoffrey and Thomas Smith, and Jacob, Ryan, and Travis Storey, and one great granddaughter, Jocelyn Smith. He graduated from Northeastern University with a BS in electrical engineering and received his MBA from American International College. He worked for over 40 years at the Ordnance Department of the General Electric Company, traveling throughout the USA, Scotland, Spain, and Japan as a field Service Manager. He retired in 1986 from General Electric in Pittsfield, MA and moved to Venice, FL. He was a member of the GE Elfun Society, Treasurer of the GE Retired Employees Association of the Southwest, FL, Trustee of the Greensboro Historical Society, teacher for the Bay Indies Computer Club in Venice, FL, and Boy Scout troop leader in Pittsfield, MA. His many interests included woodworking and woodcarving, genealogical researching, hiking and camping, bow hunting, organic gardening, and spending time with his children and grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 3870 Leeds Avenue, Suite 101, North Charleston, SC 29405. All services in Charleston, SC will be private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL. Services in Venice, FL and Greensboro, VT will be held at the convenience of the family at later dates.
