Walker Patterson Inman, Jr. "Skipper" GROVER, WY - Walker Patterson "Skipper" Inman, Jr. died peacefully in his sleep on February 24, 2010 in Denver, Colorado. He was born March 11, 1952 in Florence, S. C., the only child of Walker Patterson Inman and Georgia Polin. He was orphaned at the age of 10 and lived with his aunt Doris Duke, internationally known heiress and philanthropist. They remained close until her death and Walker was appointed executor of her estate. Walker was a passionate free spirit, and adventurer and explorer, a true swashbuckler. His total life was centered around his family. As a family man his two children, Patterson and Georgia, were more important to him than life itself. His true love and soul mate Daralee gave him the contentment he was searching for his whole life. Walker traveled on his much loved yacht, "Devine Decadence", from South Carolina and discovered the South Pacific. He also spent a lot of time with his nephews and niece, David, Bart, Mat, and Heather. After a major refit, he took the boat back to Hawaii, meeting his friend and Captain Brett Armstrong. The boat is now kept in New Zealand, where he enjoyed extensive cruising and dinner parties on board. He was a gourmet cook and an avid gun, knife, sword, and steam engine collector. He looked forward to training his camel, Sinbad. A pyrotechnics expert, his 4th of July fireworks displays are a legend in the Wyoming Valley below his mountaintop home in Grover. His quiet generosity changed many lives. He divided his time between his Grover ranch, "Outlaw Acres" and Greenfield Plantation near Georgetown, South Carolina, that he inherited from his father. He is survived by his sister Susan and her children, David, Bart, Mat, and Heather. He will be sadly missed by his faithful Mastiffs, Doolie and Doolie, Jr., "DJ"; his twin children, Georgia Noel Lahi Inman and Walker Patterson Inman, III; along with his wife, Daralee Inman. Services will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Afton, Wyoming on March 11, 2010 at 1:00 pm and at Greenfield Plantation, 2713 Choppee Rd., Georgetown, S. C. on March 13, 2010 at 1:00 pm. I met walker when he was a young man back in the 60&70s when he came to stay at his Aunt Doris in Somerville N J.I just found out of his passing. I took care of him at the Estate he and I were good friends he trusted me and he would come home with me for dinner we lived on the estate my prayers are with you and your family. GOD BLESS YOU.

Skip was a great friend of the Steamboat Springs Band. He invited us to stay at his home at the Greenfield Plantation and perform a concert in the horse arena back in 1975. He came to visit us at the 'Big House', our band headquarters in Macon, Georgia. Our condolences to the family.

I met Skipper first over 30 years at
Greenfield Plantation, and was impressed by his openness, and sincere welcome. I saw him a few times over the years, and he always remembered my name, despite several years between meetings. The Denver Post article described Walker quite well. Although we lost touch - I have many fond memories of Evergreen, CO and cherished friends back in the late 70s. You will forever be sailing into the sunset. It warms my heart to know you found family and love- it is most important in life. I celebrate you my dear friend. Until we "meet" again :) and for your family- Peace be with you - you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. He has only left us for a short time-take comfort that he is smiling down upon you and he will always be in your hearts.

I have such fun memories of Skipper as a child. He and I were the saem age and he lived across the road from my grandmother and grandfather Leroy and Lee Brunson until he was 13 in the town of Brunson. I always kept up with where he was. My cousins and I were so saddened to hear of his death. God bless you and may His words come as a comfort to you.

My prayers are with the inman family. My father passed when I was eight, so I wish the best for the children, and Daralee. I had a great time this past Dec 30 at Skippers home watching the firework show he had. He was proud of the Camel.The LLama was brought in a few hours before we got there and he was excited about him to.What great food he had fixed, I really enjoyed it, and all the activities that night. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My path crossed with Skipper's over 30 years ago down at Greenfield Plantation. He had a beautiful and generous heart. I remember loaning him money for a pepsi at Nesbitt's store. Never kept a dime in the those faded blue jean pockets!
