Vivian Smith Obituary

Vivian Paulette "Polly" Smith, 68, of Orangeburg, SC, a retired Agent in Charge of South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon died Saturday evening at her residence. Her funeral will be 3:00 PM Friday afternoon, June 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment will follow in Rudd Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 PM until the hour of service on Friday. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Ms. Smith was born March 22, 1957, in Moncks Corner, SC, a daughter of L. Vivian Dantzler Smith Fields and stepdaughter of Richard H. Fields. She was a graduate of Chicora High School where she played basketball winning the National Basketball Championship for two years. After high school she continued to play basketball while attending Anderson Jr. College then graduating from Baptist College with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Ms. Smith began her career teaching at Goose Creek High School followed by working for the Alcohol and Drug Commission. After which she finished her thirty-four-year law enforcement career with the SCPPPS where she held positions as Agent, Investigator, Supervisor, and Agent in Charge. She earned many awards for serving as Instructor of Firearms and Defensive Tactics, Mounted Search and Rescue, DQP Inspector, Carolina Mounted Patrol Association, Blue Knights, SCLEOA, and National Tennessee Walking Horse Association. She loved her horses, Logan and Pride, her cat, Orange, and her dogs, DY, Babe & Haley. Ms. Smith enjoyed traveling, camping and shagging often winning shagging contest at the beach. Ms. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil L. Smith. Surviving are her wife, Pamela J. Williams; two sisters Sherry Wright and her husband, Leo, of Moncks Corner and Patricia S. DeLoach and her husband, Carl, of Middleburg, FL; a stepson John Corey Williams of Ladson; several nieces and nephews; one great great nephew; and her beloved dog Sassy.
