VIVIAN CZANK Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vivian Czank (née Young) on Monday, March 10, 2025. Vivian was born on February 23, 1931. She grew up on a farm in Mistatim, Saskatchewan, with her parents and 12 siblings, which she spoke about fondly, especially memories of her beloved horse, Black Beauty. She met the love of her life, Rudy Czank. The two were married, and together they started a loving family. They moved to beautiful Ontario in 1956, residing in Hillsport and Grimsby before making Thunder Bay their home in 1967, where they built a life rich in love and lasting memories. As the beloved matriarch of a large and passionate family, she is the cornerstone of countless memories. A devoted mother to 12 children and a cherished grandmother to over 55 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Vivian's family was the center of her universe and her greatest source of pride. She raised strong and independent children who carry forward her spirit and resilience. Her young great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart - their laughter, innocence, and mischievousness brought her boundless happiness. Vivian was a constant presence in her family's life, never missing a milestone. She ensured her family felt her support and pride. Her sharp wit, sarcasm, and stubbornness carried her through life's challenges. She celebrated life in its most simple and beautiful moments, bringing vibrance to everything she touched. She found happiness in angels, butterflies, camping, reading, playing cards, and crafting, as well as her lifelong love for horses. She had a special love for Elvis Presley, creating an impressive collection of memorabilia that reflected her affection for him. Her garden was her sanctuary, where she planted flowers season after season. Visits to Vanderwees to gather her plants were a tradition she treasured. Truly one of a kind, Vivian had a unique spirit that embraced life's pleasures - she loved a cold beer in a bottle or a glass of Baileys on the rocks. She never turned down a good shopping trip, where she enjoyed buying unique and thoughtful treasures for her family. Christmas was particularly special to her, as she enjoyed giving and bringing happiness to her family; her trees always stood surrounded by a mountain of presents. Vivian will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren: Samantha Hill, Candace Hedlund, Dawn Tienhaara, Joan and Peter Kaurin (Krista, Kimberly, PJ, and Kady); Alex Goriup (Shyne); Irene and John Tait (Jordan and Paul); Steve and Debbie Czank (Jesse); David Czank (Michael and Shannon); Patricia and Roger Deschenes (Stacey and Stephanie); Judy Mayor (Jenna and Lisa); Marilyn and Greg Leiterman (Maddison and Mitchell); Carolyn and Patrick Hamilton (Melissa and Brooke); Theresa and Scott Russell (Brent and Hannah); Dr. James Czank and their spouses and families; Rosemary Czank and Vivian's sister Patsy. She was predeceased by her mother and father, 11 siblings, her husband Rudy, son Barry, daughter Marie, granddaughters Tina and Tammy, son-in-law Ken, and grandson-in-law Len. Vivian was a remarkable woman whose strength, love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family left an everlasting impact on all who knew her. She was truly unforgettable. She passed away at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, vibrance, and devotion that will forever shine brightly in the hearts of her family.

"You were an Angel in the Shape of my Mom."

Irene, John and Family Sending our deepest condolences on the loss of your mom. She was a spry lady that lived the last few years of her life being spoiled by you. You were so dedicated to ensuring her wellbeing. Now her goodness, her caring, and her wisdom live on-like a legacy of love that will always be with you. Hold your precious memories tight in your heart and may they help ease the loss you are experiencing now and in the days, and weeks ahead. I have such fond memories of Vivian. You could always find her sitting at her kitchen table ready to welcome you and enjoyed many conversations. She always had a pressure cooker or big pot on the stove. Coffee was always on. Marilyn and I were sure to find her at the counter at Kresgies enjoying her I believe weekly burger. Miss you Vivian

One of my fondest childhood memories was going to the Fort William ( curling club) for the early morning farmers market/plant sale with Mrs Czank , Carolyn and Theresa during our summer break from school. She planted her green thumb seed with me.I feel blessed to have known such an amazing mother and loving family. My deepest condolences to all that were lucky enough to have known her. Hugs from Liz Chichka (nee Henry)
