I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Virginia, whom I had known for too short a time. I had been introduced to her in 1980, and we had corresponded for some time on matters of family history, of which she was most compassionate in sharing.

She was most proud to have shared in the Fripp Family Reunion at Beaufort - 1985.

She will be greatly missed and admired for some time to come.

I was so sorry to read today in the Charleston Post and Courier about the passing of "Buddy".

Buddy and I enjoyed a special bond: we loved family history. She contributed so much to my files about the Koger family and other Low Country and Colleton County ties we shared: she copied some materials for me and gave me references and leads to find more material on my own. Buddy so willingly gave her time and her efforts to help me. I did so appreciate her kindness.

Just last month I passed her house while in Walterboro, and I told my mom and my aunt that I needed to contact Buddy again. I do regret not taking the time to call her and visit her and inquire about her.

She was a special lady, a special cousin. I will always cherish those times we spent exploring and sharing family papers and stories and memories there on her dining room table.

I send condolences to her family at this difficult time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I will light a candle at Mass this week with special prayers for Buddy and her family.

Buddy was my first "boss" when I worked for the City right out of high school. I have wonderful memories of those days and owe her a great debt of gratitude for her patience and guidance. She was a truly beautiful woman.
