Virginia Morand Obituary

Virginia Murrell Morand (Ginny) passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on August 20, 2025. A private service will be held. She was predeceased by the love of her life and beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Lee. She is survived by their devoted and adoring children, Michael (Carola), Donna Lindecamp, and Matthew (Kim). She is also survived by her sister Lynne Murrell (Tom), sister-in-law Nancy, and Babby Nuhn, and by their grandchildren Katie, Caroline, Avery Lindecamp, and Kaylan Durham (Cody) as well as two great-grandchildren, Paisley and Silas Durham. Lee and Ginny met in eighth grade and dated through high school. Ginny graduated from Skidmore College, and they were married six days later. Over the course of her 30-year career as a registered nurse and accompanying "The Colonel" on his military assignments, the family moved 16 times within the United States, from Rhode Island to Alaska, as well as to Germany, Panama, and Paraguay. She enjoyed working in a variety of areas within the medical field, from allergy and asthma, family medicine, mental health, and even unexpectedly delivering a dear friend's baby in their home. Ginny and Lee loved to travel to visit lifelong friends and explore the world, but were just as happy running errands as long as they were together. The family's annual vacation to Bald Head Island, NC, was greatly anticipated, as was the annual Thanksgiving fly fishing trip in the mountains of North Carolina. Few fish were ever caught; it was more of an annual casting expedition, but the wine, food, love, and laughs were always plentiful. Ginny and Lee built their dream home, La Estancia, in Summerville in 2003 and have spent countless hours creating a paradise on the property, and their children always looked forward to the next family project. Their nightly State of the Estate was a highlight of any visitor's stay at the house, during which time a review of the day's work and discussion of what should come next would ensue. The family continues to laugh through tears, remembering Ginny's incredible life and impact on us all, trying to take comfort with the thought that she is once more holding hands with Lee on an eternal adventure. Earlier today

Oh Mike, Donna and Matt, I was gutted to hear this news. I have such fond memories of your mom´s calm and tenderness. She had a great sense of humor and was always such a good straight man to your dad. My thoughts are with you all. Much love, Katie
