Virginia Hughes Hitchcock McClain
Goose Creek - Virginia Hughes Hitchcock McClain, 100, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 11, 2025. Her Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 19, 2025 in the St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 200 South Goose Creek Boulevard, Goose Creek, SC 29445 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the church. The burial will take place in Pittsford, NY at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Virginia was born July 7, 1925 in Pittsford, New York, daughter of the late Edward Phillip Hughes and the late Lillian Suhr Hughes.
She is survived by her daughters: Jean Hitchcock of Penfield, NY and Joyce Hitchcock of Goose Creek, SC; son John Hitchcock (Linda) of Rockport, TX; grandson, Brandon Hitchcock (Kelly); and great granddaughter, Alison Hitchcock of Hampstead, NC. Predeceased by her parents Edwin Hughes and Lillian Suhr Hughes, Pittsford, NY, her husbands' Donald Hitchcock and Arthur McClain, and son James Hitchcock.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 73 years in Monroe County, NY. A member of St Paul's Lutheran Church in Pittsford. Her faith was a driving force in her life. She was a lifelong resident of Pittsford until she moved south to be with her daughter Joyce in Goose Creek, SC. She became a member of St Timothy Lutheran Church in Goose Creek.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 200 South Goose Creek Boulevard, Goose Creek, SC 29445, www.sttimothygc.org.
