Virginia Theresa Ambrose
FORT MILL -- Mrs. Ambrose, age 79, beloved mother, grandmother, sister of Fort Mill, formerly of Westchester County, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut passed away Friday November 13th 2009 at CMC-Pineville. Born in the Bronx, New York, a daughter of the late John and Theresa McKeon and married to the late John P. Ambrose.
She is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Jack and Ellen Ambrose, Riva Maryland; Terese and Robert Donovan Powhatan, Va; Donna and Lee Beford of Fort Mill; Ginna and James Gallacher Brewster, NY; Anthony Ambrose Bowlingbrook IL; Edie and Kieran Clarke of Darien Connecticut; Cassie and Peter Love Mooresville, NC; thirty-one grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and sister Margaret Mary Hanretty of Port Chester, New York.
Throughout her life Virginia was devoted to her large family and volunteer work.
In 1988, Virginia embarked on a career as a sales associate with Neiman Marcus in White Plains, New York. Virginia thoroughly enjoyed her 15-year pursuit. She often regaled her family and friends with hilarious tales from life behind the counter as only she could relay, with her incredible wit and sense of humor. Virginia's tenure with Neiman Marcus lasted until her retirement in 2003.
A Funeral Mass to Celebrate Virginia's life will he held Monday, November 16th at 2 p.m. at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church in Fort Mill with the Father John Giuliani officiating. The family of Mrs. Ambrose will greet friends following the service at home of daughter 5526 Alexandrite Way, Fort Mill, South Carolina. Burial will be private at later date in New York.
