Violet R. Barfield Powers GALIVANTS FERRY - Violet R. Barfield Powers, age 81, wife of the late James Powers passed away November 15, 2010, at Conway Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Ms. Powers was born October 21, 1929, a daughter of the late Charlton and Hallie Hodge Richburg. She was a member of Gethsemane Freewill Baptist Pentecostal Church. Ms. Powers was predeceased by four brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter. Surviving are two sons, Julius D. Barfield, Jr. and his wife Betty, of North Charleston, SC, James A. Barfield and his wife Betty of Ladson, SC, two daughters, Kathryn Black and her husband Scott and Barbara Hutson, all of Johns Island, SC, one brother, Patrick Richburg of Sumter, SC, two sisters, Verlin Wingate and Gladys Avery, both of Sumter, SC, ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Norris Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Freewill Baptist Pentecostal Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at the funeral home.
